Moons created by a 19% or less moon chance will have a random size – whereby you either strike it lucky and get a big moon or get stuck with a smaller one, which are easier to destroy. For every 100,000 resources in the debris field you have a 1% chance of getting a moon, up to a maximum of 20%, which equates to 2,000,000 resources The equivalent of 1,667 Light Fighters - a number which will be more important later. The chance for a moon to form correlates to the amount of debris that's created. Size is important when it comes to moons, if your moon is too small then it can easily be deleted, after this the next big battle has a chance to create another moon. A moon occurs only on a planet that's been attacked and only one moon can exist per planet. If there's a big enough battle at a planet, causing a huge debris field to occur, then with a little luck this can become concentrated into a moon. Unlike planets, moons can't just be colonised they have to be created another way. For these reasons it's seriously recommended to work towards getting a moon as soon as you can afford it. Saving via VM is a coward's way out though so keep that in mind.Moons are one of the most important elements in OGame, not only because they allow you to securely save your fleet, but because they also can be used to intercept an enemy's fleet or to send your own ships to the other end of the universe in split seconds. If you want to nail the person, you'll have to do it while they're actually active. ![]() I mean they could update their Terms and Conditions or add a VM rule but that'd be going a bit far imo. This isn't some paid competition with contracts participants must sign. It's bordering on abuse but you can't deny people the opportunity to go into vacation mode since this is a "game" after all. The only consequence is no building/research during the time you're gone and no Mine production. ![]() You no longer have to return at a set time, you're immune to (new) attacks during the duration and the moment you come back, you can resume operations(don't have to wait on your fleet). ![]() Now players have realized that to avoid such issues, Vacation Mode is the ideal fleetsave. ![]() Even if they saved schrewdly(aka Deployment or from a Moon), there was always the possibility of getting hit(be it Blind Phalanx or Moon Destruction opening their fleet up for Phalanx). In the old days, players would fleetsave and have to return by a certain time or their fleet would be in Recyclers.
